2016 is off to a great start for Julianne Carbin and the crew at NAMI Wisconsin! Carbin, NAMI Wisconsin's Executive Director, was named one of Brava Magazine's Women to Watch for 2016! We could not be happier for all that she has helped the organization accomplish.
The mission of Brava Magazine is to encourage women in the greater Madison community to thrive in their lives by providing content and events that inspire, empower and initiate change. Each year, Brava selects inspiring women from the community to celebrate the positive impact they are making on the lives of others and their community. Each Woman to Watch is working to raise up women and children to help the vulnerable, marginalized and disenfranchised. They are are speaking up, closing gaps and eliminating disparities- and doing it with spirit. These women are building a better and healthier future for Madison.
The Brava article specifically points out Carbin's work on NAMI Wisconsin's new initiative, Raise Your Voice, an initiative to help youth start a new conversation about mental health.
"It is an honor to be recognized alongside such inspiring and influential women whose contributions are strengthening Wisconsin communities," said Carbin in response to the article. "It is exciting to see our work at NAMI Wisconsin get this kind of recognition. I am one small part of the Raise Your Voice initiative and am supported by many other powerful women... together we are affecting real change!"
